Poetry & Music
Poetry is everywhere in life, but taking this class has made me realize it. Over the weekend I was doing a lot of driving listening to music and I realized there is a lot of resemblance to poetry. They both incorporate life experiences and display them in a creative way. Songs and poetry discuss love, heritage, and life experiences. Songs are created to target different age groups and generations. We learn different forms which target age groups or have a certain form that pertains for poems to entertain. Poetry is just another way people use to gain saliency to an issue. In class Thursday we listened to a poem from women who had love for another woman. She displayed in her poem that people don’t view her like others and this gains saliency to the issue of gay rights. They use of songs and poetry can be used to entertain or to portray their side of a issue.
